Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals is a comprehensive course for anyone considering owning or carrying a firearm for self-defense. The course is a complete guide to understanding conflict avoidance and situational awareness; home security and home defense; handgun, shotgun and rifle basics; shooting fundamentals; the physiology of violent encounters; the legal aspects of using deadly force (including knowing what to do in the aftermath); and a complete guide on gear, gadgets, and ongoing training.

This class is for anyone who owns a firearm or is considering one.  This satisfies the Ohio CCW (CHL) license requirement.

Advanced CCW Techniques

You'll learn advanced techniques for using a pistol at home or in public for self defense. 

First Time Gun Owner

This class is for first time gun owners or those considering purchasing a firearm.  Learn the basics of how they work and gun safety.

Women's Classes

We understand that women may be more comfortable learning with other women.  This is the same ciricculum, but it's taught with a woman's needs in mind.

FAQs

Does the Concealed Carry and Home Defense class satisfy Ohio's CCW Requirements?

Yes, the Conceled Carry Home Defense course meets or exceeds the state of Ohio's requirements for CCW.

Do I have to be 18 to take a CCW class?

You can not apply for your Ohio CCW until you are 21, but you can take the class when you are 18 and wait to apply.  Your certificate is good for three years.

How long is a CCW certificate good for?

Your certificate is good for three years from the date of issue.

Can I take the class if I am pregnant?

You can complete the classroom portion of the class while you are pregnant.  Once the baby is born, you can complete your range time at no additional cost to earn your certificate.

Do you offer discounts for churches?

Yes, we offer discounts for churches and nonprofits.  Contact us for details.

How do I get a CCW in Ohio?

Once you complete our Concealed Carry and Home Defense class, you will earn a certificate of completion.  You can then apply through a Sheriff's Department for your CCW license.  There is a fee for your application.  

I have something on my record. Can I still get a CCW?

We can not offer legal advice.  Talk to an attorney or check the state of Ohio's concealed carry page.

I lost my certificate. Can I get a new one?

Yes, we can reprint your certificate for a $10 fee.

Classroom Location

Classes are conveniently taught at the Smithville Community Center in Smithville, Ohio near Wooster, Ohio.  Ohio residents from any county can take our class for their Ohio CCW license.
